Laurence Huc is a toxicologist. She works on environmental carcinogenesis, in relation to exposure to pollutants (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, dioxins, pesticide mixtures, SDHI). After 14 years in the Toxalim unit of INRAE in Toulouse, she joined David Demortain’s group at LISIS and Dominique Lagadic-Gossmann’s team at the Institut de recherche en santé, environnement et travail (Irset, Inserm UMR_S 1085) in Rennes. She is developing a research programme combining biology and human and social sciences on the production of knowledge for public action on environmental health, and more specifically on the standards of proof of the existence of risks of pesticides for human health. It coordinates 5 national programmes (ANR, FRM, Fondation ARC, Ligue contre le Cancer, Ecophyto2+-OFB). It set up the multidisciplinary scientific network Holimitox in 2020 to address the issue of SDHI use from an EcoHealth approach.

Frédéric Delbac Frédéric Delbac is Professor in Microbiology and the head of the team “Interactions Hôtes-Parasites” at “Laboratoire Microorganismes Génome et Environnement (LMGE UMR UCA-CNRS 6023), Clermont Auvergne University, Clermont-Ferrand. His main research projects concern microsporidia, some obligate intracellular parasites infecting a diverse range ofhost from insects to mammals and has been working on honeybees since 2008. He has managed different research programs focusing on the microsporidian Nosema ceranae and its impact on honey bee health, and has a strong interest on the interactions of these gut parasites with different chemical stressors including insecticides, fungicides and herbicides.

Marie Diogon Since 2008 I have been working on microsporidia, intracellular fungi-related parasites that infect different animal species. More specifically, I study the microsporidia Nosema ceranae, which is a honeybee gut pathogen. I am trying to understand the impact of this microsporidia on the honeybee health but also the impact of this parasite combined with different pesticides at sub-lethal and environmental doses (insecticides, fungicides, herbicides).

From 2006 to 2008, he studied the role of complex II of the mitochondrial respiratory chain (Succinate Dehydrogenase) in cell death processes induced by anti-cancer drugs. Since 2009, he has joined the “RADOPT: Radiotherapy Optimization in Glioblastoma” team of the Toulouse Cancer Research Centre (CRCT, UMR1037 INSERM – University of Toulouse 3 – ERL5294 CNRS) and has been working on the involvement of Glioblastoma initiating cells in the radioresistance process. He is particularly interested in the role of tumour metabolic heterogeneity, the microenvironment and the phenotypic and metabolic plasticity of this subpopulation of cancer stem cells in the phenomena of resistance to therapies. The objective of this translational research team is ultimately to transfer the preclinical results obtained to the clinic, within the Radiotherapy Department of the Toulouse University Cancer Institute – Oncopole (UICT-O) to which the research team is attached.

Marc Le Vée is an engineer in the Xenobiotic and Barrier team “XenoBar” at IRSET/UMR Inserm 1085 (University of Rennes1). For 20 years, he has been working on membrane transporters that influence the uptake and elimination of xenobiotics in organs such as the intestine, liver and kidneys. He has studied the effect of pro-inflammatory cytokines on the expression and function of these transporters, demonstrating their potential impact on drug pharmacokinetics (work cited by the Food and Drug Agency “FDA”). For several years, the team has also been interested in the interaction of environmental contaminants with these transporters and has notably demonstrated the interaction of extracts of diesel particles with membrane transporters in the liver (work cited by INSERM). At present, the team contributes strongly to the determination of potential interactions between emerging pollutants and transporters of xenobiotics but also of endogenous compounds (bile acids, hormones, etc…).

Cécile Ménez is a Research Fellow at the UMR 1436 INRAE/ENVT laboratory “Therapeutic innovations and resistance” in Toulouse. Since 2008, she has been working on the adaptive mechanisms and the identification of selected targets at the genomic and transcriptomic level during the adaptation and the acquisition of resistance in organisms in response to exposure to xenobiotics and more particularly to antiparasitic drugs. She uses the C. elegans model to analyze the fingerprints of a xenobiotic exposure in order to have a predictive system of a toxic exposure and to understand the mechanisms of adaptation of pathogens to drugs. C. Ménez is a member of the GENIE consortium as principal investigator on the C. elegans model.
